Where to Start

The basic principles of meditation and Shambhala Buddhism are taught in our Introductory Programs.

The Way of Shambhala and The Heart of Warriorship offer a graduated and structured approach through a series of weekend retreats and weeknight courses, while Shambhala Art explores the process of creativity.

We also offer activities for children.

Teachings

Primordial Rigden
The Primordial Rigden, a representation
of the basic goodness we all possess.

In order to provide an environment for Buddhism to flourish in the West, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche presented the spiritual journey in the cultural context of Shambhala—a personal and social vision of awakening accessible to everyone, all the time, even in the midst of busy daily life.

Students are introduced to the Buddhist and Shambhala teachings in the context of an ongoing meditation practice. Combining meditation practice and study helps us to progress along the spiritual path. The courses and programs we offer are designed to stabilize and strengthen our meditation, and clarify our understanding of the teachings.

Program activities such as guided meditation, talks, group discussion, and contemplative exercises allow us to connect to the teachings at an experiential level, and find ways to integrate the path of meditation into our daily lives. We encourage everyone to examine and question the teachings to determine how they are personally relevant.
